In late March 2025, social media users and news reports made varying claims about an incident relating to a Georgia woman's arrest after her miscarriage.
Police arrested 24-year-old Georgia resident Selena Maria Chandler-Scott after following up on the report of a witness who said they saw her put fetal remains in a dumpster. Emergency medical services determined Chandler-Scott miscarried and police sent the fetus for an autopsy, where the coroner determined it was at a gestational age of 19 weeks. As of this writing, there have been no reported instances of a baby that premature surviving.
