Oakwood house blaze 'most likely' accidental, probe finds

Investigators say a blaze that left a 72-year-old man in a critical condition was started after a hob was accidentally turned on, causing an air fryer stored on top to catch fire. Emergency services were called to the house on Saffron Drive, Oakwood in Derby, at 23:24 BST on 23 April. A joint police and fire investigation concluded the "most likely" cause of the blaze was accidental.
