As several newspapers with a history of endorsements have chosen not to endorse a presidential candidate in 2024, some readers have taken issue, with the Los Angeles Times (Lean Left bias) and Washington Post (Lean Left bias) losing thousands of subscribers and seeing some staff resignations as a result.
Vice President Kamala Harris said the lack of endorsements were “disappointing, no doubt,” and, referencing the newspapers’ owners, who killed the endorsements, said, “It’s billionaires in Donald Trump’s club.”
Former President Trump said, “Do you notice the Washington Post and Los Angeles Times aren’t endorsing anybody? You know what they’re really saying? Because they only endorse Democrats. They’re saying, ‘This Democrat’s no good. They’re no good,’ and they think I’m doing a great job. They just don’t want to say it.”

New York Times
The New York Times Editorial Board (Left bias) endorsed Kamala Harris.
New York Post
The New York Post Editorial Board (Right bias) endorsed Donald Trump.
The Nation
The Nation’s Editorial Board (Left bias) endorsed Kamala Harris in September, however interns of The Nation signed on to a separate op-ed arguing that Harris did not deserve the endorsement.
The Washington Times
The Washington Times Editorial Board (Lean Right bias) endorsed Donald Trump.
The Atlantic
The Atlantic Editorial Board (Left bias) endorsed Kamala Harris.
The New Yorker
The New Yorker Editors (Left bias) endorsed Kamala Harris.
Boston Globe
The Boston Globe Editorial Board (Left bias) endorsed Kamala Harris.
Notable Non-Endorsements
Washington Post
The Washington Post Editorial Board (Lean Left bias) did not endorse a candidate for the 2024 presidential election. Despite the editorial board having drafted an endorsement of Kamala Harris, owner of the Washington Post, Jeff Bezos, directed the paper not to run the endorsement. Reportedly, over 200,000 readers canceled their Washington Post subscriptions as a result of the non-endorsement.
Los Angeles Times
The Los Angeles Times Editorial Board (Lean Left bias) did not endorse a candidate after owner, Patrick Soon-Shiong, pulled their Harris endorsement. Following Soon-Shiong’s decision, the LA Times editorials editor resigned. The LA Times has reportedly lost thousands of subscribers due to the decision.
USA Today
USA Today (Lean Left bias) has chosen not to endorse a presidential candidate either, nor will their over 200 network outlets including Arizona Republic and the Detroit Free Press. USA Today previously endorsed Joe Biden in 2020.
Tampa Bay Times
The Tampa Bay Times (Center bias), the largest newspaper in Florida, has chosen not to endorse a candidate, specifying that no one killed its endorsement and it had never planned to endorse a candidate. The Tampa Bay Times previously endorsed Joe Biden in 2020.
